Sheffield memories...

Created by Shawn one year ago
I have a vivid memory of Mum taking Tara & I to watch Empire Strikes Back at a cinema in Sheffield in 1980. This was during one of many visits to the home of Phyllis, mum's elder sister. I recall many visits to sheffield, throughout the 70s & early 80s with great fondness. Aunty Phyllis & Uncle Fred were very kind people who had become a respected part of thir community, despite the undercurrent of xenophobia, which seemed prevalent in the UK at that point. Aunty Phyllis & mum used to drag us to church in Attercliffe on early, dark mornings, after which we would visit the Baker & various grocery stores on the way home. We also used to go for long evening walks in High Hazel park. I'm certain Aunty Phyllis's chapatis are the best I've ever tasted.
